One thing this trip taught Axel and I is that no matter where we go on vacation, we need water (except for Asa, he could do without). It also taught me that sand is tasty to a 2 and 1 year old.
At first, Asa didn't have a love affair with the beach liked we had hoped he would:
He is less into the beach and more of a poolside observer:
It could also be because he was overtired and had to find sleep any way he could:
Crashed out on a rickshaw in Thailand
Playing one minute, sleeping the next
Crashed out on Nusa Dua Beach
Or, it could be that he feels water is only for drinking, not playing:
But the rest of us were in water/beach heaven...
A clean bath with clean water!!!
Snorkelling with Dad
Nusa Dua, the sand was teeny tiny pebbles
A waterfall at the Bird Sanctuary
Playing at the Safari Park near Ubud
Nasty dark sand at the Kuta beach (ie. crappy, gross beach)
Waterbom Water Park = Fun overload
Bombarded by the 'beach sellers' You can get a massage on the beach, sarong, food, etc. You name it, they will sell it and they won't leave you alone until they make a deal. Annoying, really. Kuta beach sucked.
Heavah learned how to blow her first bubble in Bali
Axel also insisted that we go fishing the first few days we arrived. It would have been a great idea if it wasn't for the tsunami-like conditions. It was actually the one and only day during our time there that we should have NOT gone fishing. You win some, you lose some...
And even despite the seasick experience, we still caught something. The Balinese gods were looking upon us.
Just minutes before Sedona poured Fanta in the bucket and made the fish jump 2 feet in the air. A sad fish deserves Fanta, no?
The bite-sized fish Xay caught, and since we got skunked so badly with the weather, Axel made us take it home and eat it. Poor baby fish.
Okay, now I am waterlogged...
