You Know You're an American in Dubai When...

* You are the only person who turns off their ignition at the gas station before the guy pumps your gas. This is all while the man at the pump behind you just threw out his cigarette from a running car.

* You actually talk to all the nationalities in Dubai no matter of social class or ethnicity.

* You don't understand the facination for Bollywood.

* You are appauled at the fact that people have their children not only unbelted in the car but they are sitting on the dashboard.

* You pass over the sports section in the newspaper because it is only about cricket and soccer anyways.

* You are the grubbiest dresser in public. No one would be caught dead leaving their house wearing what we do!

* You refuse to buy anything that is not on sale.

* You always forget to get your produce weighed before you make it to the check out.

* You haven't a clue why they planned this city with so many curvy streets and roundabouts.

* You are baffled at the fact that you have no address and the only way you can bring someone new to your home is to hop in your car and meet them at the closest landmark.

* You buy ALL the A&W Rootbeer if you are lucky enough to find it.

* You are amazed at how cheap bottled water is. (Usually 60 cents a litre)

* You are always pleased to see that it only costs 20 bucks to fill your SUV with gas.

* You would actually like to do manual labor but can't justify doing so because labor is so cheap here.

* You find reading the newspaper amusing because it is so overtly slanted and censored.

* You are amazed that there are no public schools and if you want your child in school, prepare on dishing out $10K a year.

* You have to write blogs like this just so people know what life is like in this strange land.

Haha! That is hilarious. Case in point how different cultures can be.
