Because of this tragedy, we are on a daily load share for electricity. This means that everyday, at anytime (other than our regular load share time), our power could go out. The idea is to make sure that it is cut during a high peek time in order to conserve as much as possible. This means that no matter what activity we are engaged in the power could just blank out and we then have to find something else constructive to do for two hours that doesn't require electricity. Necessity is the mother of invention.
So, if my postings lately seem sporadic, this is why.
As a side note, I read in the newspaper that many people are starving as a result of this flood. This is on top of the many people already starving in this country. On the following page it had an article that a truck from India was stopped at the border (where the flood happened) and 20,000 eggs were destroyed because they were not eggs from 'local chickens'.
Willing to share electricity but NOT foreign eggs...

Wow that must often suck for you guys (we lost power occasionally in Suriname and TT too). I guess though that being in your "Shangri-la" and not homeless like so many others in Nepal can make you feel quite grateful and relieved. Terrible to see the news... people who are already living such a hard life having to suffer even more. It's just not fair...
It is hard to know what to say when I consider the magnitude of suffering the people must endure in that part of the world. . .and they can't even have a foreign egg?
I'd love to hear some of your creative powerless inventions.
So sad. And to think that kind of stuff happens the world over while people are hungry. Horrible.
